Dooneys completes Mullins double

Willie Mullins notched a double at Clonmel when Dooneys Gate ran out a convincing winner of the Kilcash Chase.

Patrick Mullins, better known for his bumper successes, was parterning his first winner over fences and gave the 2/1 favourite a confident ride.

The Oscar gelding was always handy and had his rivals in trouble turning for home.

Mullins junior sent this mount on before the final fence and he galloped on strongly on the run-in to record a 13-length victory over Northern Alliance

Mullins senior had also struck earlier on the card with the Paul Townend ridden Bishopsfurze

"He ran well last time and jumped great today. I was just a bit worried about the ground being a bit dead for him today.

"He's in the Grand National but could run in the Topham instead. He would be a nice spin for Patrick over those fences."
