Double-up for Russell with Nuvelli

Davy Russell completed a 119/1 double, adding to his earlier gains via Luska Lad by getting Nuvelli home in I.T.B.A. South East Region European Breeders Fund Handicap Chase. Prudent Honour looked a winner in this two a half miler when arriving there travelling well in the straight and The Flying Dustman also looked like he might rally sufficiently to take a hand but Nuvelli proved stronger than that pair to score by a length and a quarter and one and three parts of a length.

Equipped with a tongue-tie and cheek-pieces (for the third time in his career, had been blinkered before too) Shane Donohoe's Nuvelli was bouncing back to something approaching the form that saw him win two races in a row in November and December 2008. He also won a bumper in February 2007 and the Gigginstown House Stud-owned eight-year-old Luso gelding goes well in testing conditions.
