Doyle excels on Coolcashin

Trainer Michael Bowe enjoyed a welcome change of luck when his charge Coolcashin landed the Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort Pat Taaffe Grade B Handicap Chase under Tom Doyle.

Doyle produced the son of Taipan to lead approaching the straight and kept on well from the last to hold off the challenge of Shuil Aris by one and a half lengths.

Winning trainer Bowe said afterwards: "We've had a welcome change of luck. This lad had a bad fracture and suffers from arthritis as a result."

"Edwina Farrell works wonders on him and he wears a magnetic boot and it seems to be doing the trick."

"He has been running on terrible sticky ground all Winter and he just needs good ground. It's taken the penny awhile to drop for me."

"There's a temptation to consider something like the Galway Plate for him now."
