Dundrum Too Good for Johnny

The market suggested that the Smirnoff Maiden Hurdle at Down Royal might come down to a match between Dundrum (6/4 in the morning into 11/10) and Johnnyofcourse (9/2 early trading into 5/2) and so it proved out on the track where the former beat the latter by a length and a half.

Dundrum made all and from after two out he only had Johnnyofcourse to worry about. He drifted left on the run-in under Andrew Leigh but was always looking likely to get the job done.

Successful trainer, Jessica Harrington said: "He'd be better going left-handed and we'll find a novice for him now. He could go back on the flat too where he has a low rating. His owner, John Hennessy also has a half-share in The Bull Hayes with me."

Harrington also had the first winner at Wexford, No One Tells Me (EM)
