It'd been over three years since Tajweed passed the post in front but with a man in top form on his back in the shape of Shane Foley, the six-year-old son of Pivotal consented to do the business again with a hard-fought success in the closing Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap at Naas.
Tajweed cost 110,000 guineas as a foal before selling to current connections for 11,000 guineas in October 2008 and here he made most and fended off all challengers from over two furlongs out, eventually beating off Rocky's Pride by one and three parts of a length.
Owen Weldon, representing winning trainer Luke Comer, said: "He stuck at it well. The lads have been riding him all wrong.
"He won a race out in front in England before - that's the only way to ride him. The ground came right for him too."
