Elliott on the double

Gordon Elliott completed a double at Tramore this evening and thus denied Davy Condon (who partnered the trainer’s earlier winner) a brace, by a short head, when Elliott’s Traffic Article won the Brennan’s Pharmacy Beginners’ Chase.

Traffic Article (9/10 favourite), under Paul Carberry, and Granaruid (Davy Condon) raced head-to-head from the second last fence, eventually racing to the line with little to separate the pair.

In the end, Traffic Article was called the short head winner and while a Stewards’ Enquiry was subsequently called, the result was left unaltered.

Afterwards Elliott stated “that was great! Traffic Article has done plenty of racing and probably deserves a few weeks off now. We might go for a three miles novice chase at Cheltenham in October next. He is owned by Patrick Mackin from Banbridge, Co Down.”
