Fahey Obviously has a smart one

There has been a steady stream of winners from the Fahey brothers in recent times and Peter has a decent one in his care in the shape of Obviously This three-year-old son of Choisir burst through late to impressively land the [email protected] Handicap under Joseph O'Brien.

Seventy five days off the track, since winning a maiden at Cork in July, the successful gelding, an attractive three-year-old, proved more than ready for his handicap bow here on just his third start. At the line he had a length and a half to spare over Golden Shoe

Peter Fahey said: "I'm absolutely delighted. After Cork he was going to be sold but things just didn't work out.

"He was impressive there and Joseph said he could be listed or group class. He should know – he is riding plenty of those types.

"He could be something to look forward too though the owners are keen to sell. He is in at Newmarket sales and that's probably him finished now for the year. We'll see what happens."
