Forebear blasted away from stall one and blitzed his rivals in Division One of the seven furlong handicap at Down Royal.

Wayne Lordan did the steering and his mount had enough in the tank to see off the closers - Fairy Foxglove (7/2) and Seeking Truth (14/1) in second and third respectively.

Handler Paddy Twomey said: "He broke well and seemed to travel through the race and Wayne gave him a great ride. Delighted with that.

"We've had him most of this year. His form with Seanie would say that he would have been good enough today. Hopefully we'll see him out soon."

This was the five-year-old gelding's first start for Twomey having been formerly trained by Sean Hennessy. He was returned the 11/4 favourite after opening at 7/2 and came in by three parts of a length and a neck.

The owner Richard Carroll is from Tipperary.
