Pat Lally trained Harry Days to finish third to the subsequent Listed heroine, Boynagh Joy at Dundalk 63 days ago and having passed away in the interim, it was left to Patrick Allen to take charge of the Alhaarth gelding who defied an on-course market drift to land the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap (division two) by two lengths under Martin Harley.
In the familiar colours of Mrs Christine Kiernan (who also owns Lally's last winner – Mac Tiernan at Navan on October 20th), Harley got Harry Days to the front over a furlong out and he stayed on well to beat Rock On Ciara Ten pound claimer Conor Walsh, on his third ride, flashed home on Jim Bolger's Positive Event to finish third.
Navan-based Patrick Allen said: "He has done it nicely. His last run was a great run for the deceased man that had him and I'd like to thank the Kiernan family for giving him to me.
"We'll keep him to this and he'll keep progressing. We'll come back here before it closes up for the break. That's my first winner this year, my ninth in total and I have seven in."
