Preview GOWRAN PARK 5th Aug

The Gowran Park Race is the highlight of a seven-race card at the County Kilkenny venue and looks an ideal opportunity for Rock Moss to get back to winning ways.

Jim Bolger's charge returned to action this season with a pleasing third at Fairyhouse before winning convincingly in a Curragh handicap.

The three-year-old came unstuck in Listed company last time, but this looks more his level, though any chinks in his armour could be exposed by one of Dermot Weld's Galway winners, Award Ceremony.

The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden kicks off proceedings at 5.35 and looks full of likely sorts, none more so than the John Oxx-trained Aliyfa.

The juvenile took some time to get the hang of things on her debut at Fairyhouse, but the way she finished to take third behind subsequent scorer Like Magic suggests this extra furlong, combined with her experience, could prove invaluable.

Cnocan Gold finished ahead of Aliyfa at Fairyhouse and will be out to confirm those placings, while Ceist Eile may not have shown much on her debut, but is worth a second glance.

Breeding doesn't always guarantee success, but Masterofthehorse ran with credit to take second on his debut and is likely to figure prominently in the Hurry Harriet Listed Race 13th August At Gowran Park Maiden.

Aidan O'Brien's two-year-old, a full-brother to dual Oaks heroine Alexandrova, stuck on gamely at Naas last time and should be better for the run. Kevin Prendergast's Shakalaka looks the main danger.

There's action at Roscommon, where Tony Martin's She's Supersonic will be out to end a long losing run in the First Choice Betting Handicap Chase.

Only beaten narrowly on her last start, connections will be hopeful she can get the better of the likes of Tubber Gael Holly and Wishwillow Magic in this contest.
