Gaelic Grounds makes it 2 from 2

It may have taken Gaelic Grounds a long time to get the hang of things on the racecourse proper but it is amazing what a win can do for a horse's confidence and the Clonmel winner from a month ago followed up in the Punchestown Annual Membership Handicap Chase.

As was the case at Powerstown Park, John Cullen was again in the plate and though the son of Winged Love got a bit lonely on the run-in he held off the run of Skeheenarinky by a neck.

A winner at Roscommon in April 2008 in his time 'between the flags,' Gaelic Grounds "lost his way last year," according to his trainer Pat Fahy.

He continued: "That means he is still a novice this season, he'll go for another handicap next but he could go down the novice route later on. He'll stick to two and a half miles now having tried three miles before."
