Galway likely for Summer Plate winner Qulinton

Galway beckons for the progressive Qulinton, who could not have looked any more stylish in the totesport.com Summer Plate at Market Rasen today.

Although held in some admiration by the David Pipe yard, he has in the past been accused of lacking enough focus to compete in top company.

But the application of first-time blinkers in Lincolnshire seemingly ironed out any potential for waywardness as Conor O'Farrell's partner stayed true and straight from the outset.

Qulinton was always to the fore under his wise young jockey, who glided into the lead three out once The Invisible Man had cried off.

Logans Run fleetingly emerged a willing nemesis, but Pipe's 15-2 chance required few reminders to ease home by 19 lengths.

Pretensions at winning the exceptionally valuable Galway Plate on July 27 are now far from idealistic.

Pipe said: "He's always been a horse with a lot of ability, but the blinkers have helped him concentrate as he wanders around up front.

"He has won on soft, but we were still a bit concerned about the ground after all the rain. He coped better than the rest of them.

"He's in the Galway Plate and may go there now."
