Gold Tantrum (8/1) has hit a rich vein of form as she followed up on her recent Tramore success with a clear-cut victory in the two mile handicap hurdle in Kilbeggan. Do Try Dolly set sail for home well before the second last and only Gold Tantrum was able to stalk her.

However, it soon became clear that Pierce Gallagher was sitting with plenty of horse under him. Gold Tantrum grabbed a narrow lead just after the second last and drew two lengths clear of Do Try Dolly after the final obstacle. Percys Choice was 15 lengths adrift of the runner-up in third at 25/1.

Successful trainer Seamus Fahey said: "I didn't expect to get 10lbs for Tramore. It's a pity Shane (Butler) couldn't ride her but he's at his brother's wedding.

"We may wait for the next meeting here. She's done it well and Pierce said she handled the ground perfectly and he thinks she can win another."

The runner-up Do Try Dolly is trained by Paul Fahey, brother of the winning trainer Seamus Fahey.

After this race (the third on the card), the going was changed to Yielding to Soft. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
