Baidin Fheilimi and Pierce Gallagher took the mares’ handicap hurdle at Cork by two lengths for handler Patrick Cronin.

The mare attracted plenty of backers before racing as her price contracted to 9/1 having being chalked up at 14s this morning.

Gallagher guided her into the lead at the second last in this two mile three contest. After the final hurdle Becheri (33/1) and Pleased As Punch (7/1) threw down their challenges, but they weren’t able to threaten the winner and came home second and third respectively. There was an eight-length gap back to 12/1 shot Lenora who finished fourth of the 16 runners. Routes Delight the 7/2 favourite, didn't land a blow today as she finished back in 12th. Patrick Cronin said: “I train a couple of miles from the track in Doneraile. The ground is the key to her. It was too soft when she last ran here. She could run in a mares chase at Tramore and also possibly in a Cork handicap hurdle at the end of August.”

Patrick Cronin bred and owns the eight-year-old mare Baidin Fheilimi.
