Grantsville dead-heats but wins race in Stewards Room

Tom McCourt´s Grantsville was awarded the Dawn Milk Run Handicap Hurdle at Killarney this evening, following the demotion of dead-heater Cler in the stewards´ room.

Grantsville, under Paul Townend, and Cler, under Ruby Walsh, originally dead-heated but Grantsville, who was slightly hampered by Cler approaching the final flight, was subsequently awarded the race in the stewards´ room.

In their enquiry, the stewards ultimately felt Cler had improved his placing in the incident although no suspensions were handed out.

The win was the first in Ireland for Grantsville, who had previously been successful three time in Germany, recording an official winning distance of a dead-heat.
