Division One of the three mile one beginners chase at Wexford incredibly ended in a three-way head bobbing finish in which Vinnie Keane’s Ballyhampshire Man (5/1) prevailed by a nose. Beef To The Heels Ballyhampshire Man and Present Potential were the three protagonists gunning for glory on the homeward turn.
Present Potential had ground to make up on the other two after the final fence, but Ben Dalton galvanised him to drop his head on the line in unison with Beef To The Heels and Ballyhampshire Man.
The verdict was announced as a nose and a nose. Beef To The Heels (4/1) under treble-seeking Davy Russell had to settle for runner-up money with Present Potential (10/1) third.
This was a first ‘big league’ winner for 22-year-old jockey David Walsh who is from Butlerstown in Co Waterford. He said: "That is my first track winner, I haven't had many rides on the track and I've had a few point-to-point wins. I'm going on the Darley Flying Start Programme in September."
