Majenta knuckled down well inside the final furlong to grind out victory in the ten furlong maiden at Dundalk. Orator tried to make all but was tackled at the furlong pole by the 10/3 favourite.

Chris Hayes got a good tune from the market leader inside the final furlong to wear down the front-runner for a neck success.

The winner had been third on her debut here last month and Hayes admitted that she might have been closer:-

“I have to thank Mr & Mrs Vasicek and the boss for leaving me on her. She had a bit of hard luck the first day and I probably didn't shine on her.

“She's improved a lot and probably wasn't suited by the race there as they went steady and it turned into a sprint. She's a filly we're looking forward to.”

It was a double on the card for Hayes, who had also partnered Najm Suhail to success in the opening two-year-old race.
