The Kevin Prendergast trained Sharaasa overcame a wide drawn and a market drift before winning the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Dundalk this evening, scoring by a length under Chris Hayes.

Drawn seven of eight and sent to post 2/1 second favourite (from 6/4 in the morning), the daughter of Approve arrived wide with her challenge entering the home straight and improved to lead over a furlong out before seeing off the challenge of Bairns At Bay

Afterwards Hayes stated “she's a nice filly; we thought she'd win in Naas but her draw didn't help then and it didn't help today either. Nothing unfolded right for me: I was trapped wide and arrived too soon.

“That's job done though and we know she goes on that surface so if the boss finds another race she might come back. If not she'll be a nice one for next year.”
