Holeinthewall Bar ran out an easy winner of the Down Royal Handicap Chase for Gordon Elliott and Denis O’Regan.

The 9/4 favourite was prominent throughout in the two-miler and hit the front after the fourth last.

He was in total control down the straight and had far too much in hand as James tried in vain to peg him back.

The winner was easing down in the closing stages to record a 15-length success.

“It was a low grade race but it’s still nice to win it,” said Elliott.

“We bought him for handy enough money at Doncaster sales and it’s a syndicate of lads that have him.

“We’ll see what the handicapper does now. He’s in again later on in the week. He is what he is and we’ll have a bit of fun with him.”
