Hopper makes all for shock win

Drain Hopper sprang a 20/1 shock when claiming the mares maiden hurdle at Roscommon under Pierce Gallagher.

The Patrick Cronin-trained mare bounced out in front and had her rivals struggling turning for home.

She kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a eight-length winning margin over Ella Watson

Winning trainer Cronin, from Doneraile in Cork, was not on hand to welcome back his winner.
