If Per Chance lands Killarney gamble

The Michael Halford trained If Per Chance landed a gamble to easily win the Robin Parke Memorial Handicap at Killarney today, helping move jockey Fran Berry one ahead in the Irish Jockeys' Championship (47-46, ahead of Pat Smullen).

The son of Danetime chased the leaders, improved to lead a furlong and a half out, before staying on well for an easy seven lengths win. If Per Chance had been backed in the morning from 12/1 in a place, and on-track, from 7/2, into 11/4 favouritism.

Afterwards Halford stated "If Per Chance is a genuine horse and deserved the win - he goes on those testing conditions and will run in the Topaz Mile at Galway next."
