Pale Iris swooped on the outer to open her account in the fillies handicap at the Curragh this afternoon.

Joe Murphy 's charge was making her handicap debut in the seven furlong contest having been placed in a Gowran Park maiden on her most recent start.

Gary Carroll produced the 5/1 shot to challenge inside the final furlong and she got on top in the closing stages to beat Montego Bay by a length-and-three-quarters.

“She's a nice filly, a progressive filly, and we like her a lot,” said Murphy.

“Gary said she was half idling up the straight and then arrived there a bit soon. The ease in the ground helped as she's by Dragon Pulse. We might go back to six furlongs with her.

“She had good maiden form. I was a bit disappointed in Gowran as I thought she'd win there.”
