Ivy Glen wins incident packed chase

The Pat Ryan trained Ivy Glen under Brian O'Connell, claimed a second career win at Gowran today, landing the Brian Cody & www.aclsurgery.ie Mares Beginners Chase in a race which saw leading rider Davy Russell take a heavy fall.

Ivy Glen had moved into a challenging position when Russell's mount Feenakilmeedy crashed out at the third last fence, bring down Shuilamach From there Ivy Glen moved to the front and in the end recording a comfortable six and a half lengths win over County Champions Shaunas Dream was another, separate, casualty at the third last fence.

Russell was removed by stretcher and was subsequently reported to have suffered a suspected fracture to both his humerus and tibia.

Following Ivy Glen's win, Ryan stated "once she was out in front she really started to enjoy it. She'd die for you - she's fair honest."

Ivy Glen provided Ryan with his other winner, when landing a maiden hurdle at Listowel in June 2013.
