Jenari lands the odds

Jenari odds-on when beaten on his hurdle debut at Galway last month, made no mistake when justifying the prohibitive odds of 2/5 in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.

Pat Mangan sent the “jolly” to the front just before two out, and the Milan gelding quickly settled the issue to beat the staying on Tailors Hill (33/1) by eight lengths. Not My Idea (16/1) cut out most of the running but faded in the closing stages to finish a further length and three quarters adrift in third.

Eamon Leigh, travelling head man to trainer Jessica Harrington, said, “He came on from the run at Galway, and that bit of experience did him good.”
