Joseph O'Brien completed an across-the-card treble at Cork today as the trainer's Fame And Acclaim defied top weight to win the Cork Rated Race under jockey Declan McDonogh.

O'Brien and McDonogh combined to win yesterday's Group 3 Meld Stakes at Leopardstown with Patrick Sarsfield and today O'Brien bagged winners at Dundalk, with maiden winner Lord Mczie and at Cork with Edesann, under Shane Crosse, before Fame And Acclaim scored a ready three lengths win.

Afterwards Brendan Powell, assistant to the trainer, reported “Declan (McDonogh) said he broke well and got a lovely lead. He wanted to hang on to him a bit longer today and said he travelled sweet and loved the ground.

“He is improving and won nicely and Declan loved him; please god he has a nice future and he'll probably try a Stakes race down the line.”
