French import Kala Conti (2/13f) won on Irish debut today, landing Navan's opening uncompetitive Bar One Racing 'Price Boosts' 3-Y-O Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott, jockey Jack Kennedy and owners Robcour.

By the Aga Khan-bred stallion Karaktar, Kala Conti was a debut winner at Compiegne last May before selling to Brian Acheson's Robcour and today reappeared against two rivals, including stablemate and Kevin Prendergast-owned Roboreti

The winner made all for an easy 14 lengths win over Roboreti, with the 50/1 outsider-of-three finishing last.

Trainer Elliott said “she's (Kala Conti) a nice filly. Jack said he could have gone around again, she would have done more at home. I'd imagine we'll probably look at the graded race in Fairyhouse in two weeks time and she'll have an entry at Newbury on the same weekend.

“The other horse (outsider Bravewhenineedtobe was taking her on and you're always waiting for something to go wrong in those races but it was pretty straight-forward and she did it well.”
