Jockey Karen Kenny, who was taken away by air ambulance following a heavy fall at Tramore today, is reported to have left the track semi-conscious and is to be sent for scans.

Seven pounds claimer Kenny fell when her mount Our Pearl appeared to clip heels with winner Hurricane Volta rounding the final turn for the opening contest.

Initial reports suggested the rider was semi-conscious and this was confirmed by Turf Club Doctor Adrian McGoldrick who stated "Karen has been airlifted to Cork Hospital for a brain scan. She was unconscious for about three minutes but she was semi-conscious when she left.

“I spoke to her family and told them she is having a brain scan and then we'll decide from there as to what her treatment will be. We won’t know more until we get the results of the brain scan but she was able to respond to us and she knew she was in Tramore.”
