The Oliver Brady trained Khan Tengri took the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle with Adrian Heskin in the saddle.

The 6yo son of Sadler’s Wells put in a career best performance over hurdles last time out at Wexford, where he finished just over eight lengths behind Tipped Up Harry.

Sent off at 12/1 today he raced in mid-division before making progress to chase the leaders three hurdles from home.

The 11/8 favourite Frankie Flowers who was attempting to make all, crashed out at the second last when still leading and brought down Highdownhill in the process.

This left the winner in a share of the lead with Supreme Bob but he stayed on best on the run-in to edge ahead in the closing stages and win by half a length at the line.

The Philip Fenton trained Supreme Bob had to settle for second at 10/1 while Tequila Lord was a further seventeen lengths back in third for Moses McCabe at 14/1.

Winning rider Adrian Heskin said afterwards: "He had the two horses covered when they came down at the second last. I had plenty of horse under me and hopefully he will go on from here now."
