King takes the last at Punchestown

The concluding race on today’s card, the Black Hills Flat Race was won by the Charles O’Brien trained Fantasy King

Paul MacMahon who was in the saddle was hard at work aboard the Acclamation gelding from over two furlongs out responded well to pressure to get up in the closing stages and score by a convincing four lengths.

Winning trainer O’Brien said afterwards: “This wasn’t exactly the plan when he was bought as a yearling.”

“We gave him a little break and he just grew and grew so then it was time for Plan B.”

“We’ve always thought a lot of him. I was impressed with the jockey too, he’s getting very brave in his old age.”

“We’ll keep him on the go throughout the Summer now as he loves the quick ground.”
