Kristal makes her experience count

Kristal Komet showed the benefit of experience to land the opening Powerstown 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel in the hands of Alan Crowe.

Tracey Collins' High Chaparral filly kept going well in the straight to see off all challengers. Wealdmore Wave was just after coming under pressure when taking a heavy fall at the second last and the hurdling debutant Little Green was the one to give Kristal Komet most to do from there on but she had no extra to give on the run-in.

Kristal Komet is out of a Hernando mare, so not surprisingly she stays well and she came on sufficiently from her hurdling bow at Navan 25 days back when third.

Tracey Collins said of the Thistle Bloodstock-owned 5/1 shot: "I'm delighted with that. She handled the ground well which is a real plus today. We've no real plans for her."
