Lady Steppes Rewarded

Two runs back she was short of room at a vital stage over the course and distance and last time at Limerick she missed the last which cost her the race, but Lady Steppes made no mistake in the Three Rocks Handicap Hurdle at Wexford tonight, clear from the last to account for Longwhitejemmy by thirteen lengths.

A fifth winning favourite from six races, this was a very popular success given that Lady Steppes was trained and ridden by Wexford men, namely Colm Murphy and five pound claiming amateur, Matt O'Connor.

Murphy said: "She was entitled to that. She's been so unlucky and has been creeping up the handicap. She is all heart and hopefully we can get another win out of her. Matt is riding really well and is some value for his claim." (EM)
