Lashes on song for Guineas

Laughing Lashes is really pleasing connections as she builds up for the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 1.

The grey daughter of Mr Greeley was never out of the first two in her four starts as a juvenile including a length victory over Misty For Me in the Group 2 Keeneland Debutante Stakes at the Curragh.

Those placings were subsequently reversed by the same margin in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes over the same seven furlongs but trainer Jessica Harrington feels there is a lot more to come from the filly who now carries the colours of Betty Moran.

“She's a very big filly, and even makes Pathfork look small. It was surprising she did so well last year. She seems in great form and is working very well. I think she will continue to progress as the year goes on,” said Mrs Harrington as she opened her Co.Kildare yard to owners and the press today.

Regular partner Fran Berry confirmed that she “has come to hand well”, while perhaps tellingly the stable's main jump jockey Robert Power commented: “Pathfork gets most of the limelight in the yard but this filly is the one I'm really looking forward to seeing at Newmarket. I've never seen a filly develop as much as she has.”
