Laughs maintains perfect chase record

Barel Of Laughs made it two from two over fences when running out a game winner of the Horse & Jockey Handicap Chase at Thurles.

Jim Culloty 's charge made a winning debut over fences at Tipperary earlier this month and was pitched straight into handicap company here.

The Milan gelding was well up to the task against more experienced rivals, jumping well and getting a nice run on the inner to challenge at the second last.

Tom Doyle drove the 5/1 favourite into a narrow lead at the last and he was always doing enough on the run-in to master front-runner Model County Lass by a head.

Culloty has his string in fine form and said afterwards:- "They're running well and I'd like to have a few more.

"He's only five and ran just over two weeks ago. We ran him back quickly because of the ground.

"He made hard enough work of that and we'll probably give him a break for four weeks.

"We'll see what the weather does then. He doesn't want the ground too heavy."
