Seven pounds claimer Denis Lenihan completed a double at Dundalk today, landing the Ashbrook Foods Apprentice Handicap (div 2) on the Paddy Mooney trained Full Shilling

Lenihan, based with trainer Johnny Murtagh, was earlier successful with Strategic Force and doubled his score with an all-out short-head win on Full Shilling.

Mooney later said “I thought she was just beaten!

“I was disappointed with her last week as I thought she’d be in the first three but she seemed to get tired in the last furlong then, so we decided to stick her in over seven furlongs and hope for the best and it seemed to suit her.

“She was stopping towards the line and just had enough to hang on.

“We’ll keep her in this grade and she might get a bit of a rest now as she’s after running two weeks in a row; I don’t want to sour her as she’s an old mare and she’s a bit difficult but is a hardy devil.

“She’s been on the go all year and has been running consistently.”
