Licence strikes for Johnston

Mark Johnston staged another successful raid on Dundalk when Licence To Till took the ten furlong handicap.

Willie Supple tracked Elusive Ridge early on before letting his mount hit the front after the field had covered less than half a mile.

The veteran pilot swung wide turning into the straight and his mount proved a willing partner in the closing stages as he repelled the challenge of Back Burner by a length-and-a-quarter.

The winner was well supported on course from 6/1 into 4/1. Dawariya was sent off the 5/2 favourite but could only finish seventh.

"He got into a nice rhythm and settled well," said Supple afterwards.

"Mark said that he wasn't drawn great and to try and get a good position early."
