Light Leads the way

Lead Kindly Light (8/1) showed no ill effects from a fall at Thurles on Thursday when readily landing the Cheltenham Trial Day 26th February Handicap Chase under Andrew Leigh.

Trained in Castledermot by Sean Byrne, the eight-year-old filly challenged Yeoman (5/1) at the last in the two miles event and got well on top in the closing stages drawing clear to beat that rival by eight lengths. Fourth Class (12/1) finished a further two and a quarter lengths adrift in third.

Byrne said, “She would have gone close at Thurles (in touch when fell four out), and there is a two mile race for her at Fairyhouse next month.

“She loves two miles and is a great jumper.”
