Aidan O’Brien continued on his winning ways at Leopardstown today, completing an opening treble when his Lillie Langtry benefited from a ‘peach of a ride’ from Johnny Murtagh to win the Group 1 Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes.
Murtagh held the daughter of Danehill Dancer up in last before producing the filly to lead inside the final furlong to score a neck win over Spacious
Afterwards O’Brien stated “Johnny gave Lillie Langtry a masterful ride – the filly didn’t know she had a race and was only asked to race properly in the last furlong and a half. It was a peach of a ride.”
“She is a very determined filly and was always very classy. Her next race will be in the Prix De L’Opera in France.”
