Lilly The Lioness ended a run of four straight winning favourites at Wexford when getting the better of market leader Tempo Mac in the Wellingtonbridge Handicap Hurdle.

There were three in the air together at the final flight, and the 11/1 chance (available at nearly twice those odds earlier in the day) was produced to lead on the run-in by Mark Enright.

The Garrett Power-trained mare stayed on well under pressure to beat the patiently-ridden 9/10 favourite by two and a half lengths. Crystal Earth could find no extra in the closing stages to finish a further two lengths away in third.

Power said, "She will probably go for the mares handicap hurdle on the Wednesday of Galway, and she might run in a chase before that. She prefers going left-handed."

The winner is owned and bred by Pat McCarthy from Cork.
