Little money Green wins Grade 2

Little Green chose a great day to get off the mark when on outing number seven the daughter of Governor Brown landed the Grade 2 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse under Paul Townend.

In what was a real test of stamina for these youngsters, the Bannermen Syndicate's cheap purchase (cost less than €1,000) was ridden to challenge at the last and she soon led, keeping on well to beat Chaperoned by two lengths.

Winning trainer Eric McNamara was surprised though there was a bit of money around for his charge this morning at 10/1 (returned 13/2).

He said: "She stayed on well the last day at Thurles to be second to a good horse of Edward O'Grady's in Ruler Of All. We thought after that she'd be plenty good enough to win a maiden and we were just hoping to make the frame today, get a bit of black-type and then go back for a maiden.

"To win is a real bonus and it's great for the two fellows from County Clare who own her. She won't go to Cheltenham or Aintree. Fairyhouse and Punchestown would be possibilities and she could go back on the flat at some stage too."
