Eddie Lynam won the inaugural Winter Series Trainers' Championship at Dundalk this evening, courtesy of his Solid Air s win in the Irish News Neville Ring Punters Guide Rated Race, edging the trainer one winner ahead of Jim Bolger.

Solid Air caused a 10/1 upset when edging out Silverlord by three parts of a length and Lynam later said “Solid Air is what he is and has been up here plenty of times. One interesting bit of form he has is that he once divided Banna Boirche and Hujaylea. It's good to get a winner for the owner (Lynam's wife Aileen) too!”

The win moved Lynam on to the 14 winner mark for the Series, sponsored by the Racing Post, one ahead of nearest pursuer Jim Bolger. Lynam's Series win was sealed in the next race, the 1m4f handicap, when Bolger's last runner Dancing On Turf finished unplaced.

Lynam later reported "the Series win is great for the yard and the staff - we ran plenty of horses and the programme suited our type of horse."
