Malayan makes it two from two

Malayan Mist had to work to justify her short price in the Fillies Race at Ballinrobe.

Pat Smullen asked the 5/6 shot to tackle front-runner Crystal Belle two furlongs out but it took her a while to master that rival.

She eventually got on top well inside the final furlong and went on to record a length victory over Deire Na Sli who finished strongly for second.

Dermot Weld 's charge was maintaining her unbeaten record, having won on her debut at Gowran earlier this month.

James Kelly, racing manager to owner Lady O'Reilly, said the winner is now set for a step up in class:-

"She'll be a lot better going a mile-and-a-half. She's a talented but an extremely lazy filly.

"She's entered for the Noblesse Stakes at Cork next month and also has an entry for the Irish Oaks.

"She'll probably have two more runs this year but whatever happens she should be a nice four-year-old."
