Mount Masada powered clear in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Jack Kennedy produced his mount to lead at the second last and he was in control going to the last.

Davy Fitzgerald 's charge pulled clear on the run-in to record a eight length victory over 50/1 shot De Glebe Star

The winner had attracted some support from 9/1 this morning and returned a 7/1 shot. He had been fourth behind Perfect Woman at Cork on his last outing earlier this month.

"He'd a good run the last day in Cork. I was worried whether he would handle that real heavy ground but he's a good tough little horse who should win again," said Fitzgerald.

"He was nearly brought down with a circuit to go on his previous run at Listowel. I'm delighted for his owner Tom Harnett, who is a vet from Ardagh in Co. Limerick and has been with me a long time."
