Noel Meade's good recent run continued when his Bat Masterson came from a seemingly poor position to win the Albany Hurdle at Navan today, scoring under stable jockey Paul Carberry.

Bat Masterson looked booked for place money early in the straight when well back in fourth but found plenty reserves of stamina to eventually move past leader Beachdale Lad on the run-in, for a two and three parts of a lengths win.

Meade was represented by his brother Ben who later briefly mentioned “the Queen Maeve Syndicate are from the West of Ireland and have the likes of Corskeagh Royale with Noel in the past.

“Bat Masterson is a tough fella and Paul (Carberry) never gave up on him and he stayed on well up in the hill.”
