Maundy lunges late to grab Money

Maundy Money was produced with a well-timed run by Sam James to claim the seven-furlong handicap at Listowel. Picture Perfect lead them along but had to get down to business when headed briefly by Greatwallofchina turning for home.

Maundy Money threw down his challenge at the furlong pole and just found more in the closing stages to score by a short-head from the long-time leader. Little Arrows finished with a flourish to take third, a length-and-a-quarter back, having turned for home in last place.

It was a fifteenth career success for promising apprentice Sam James, who had only had his first ride at the track yesterday.

The winner owners are Kerry based with the members of the Push The Button Syndicate from Killarney. Winning trainer David Marnane was absent.
