Meade & Carberry on one hell of a roll!

Trainer Noel Meade and stable jockey Paul Carberry, fresh from an appearance on The Late Late Show last night, were on fire at Fairyhouse today combining for a treble, with Texas Jack #8217;s win the Visit www.fairyhouse.ie For Special Offers Maiden Hurdle.

The pair featured on last night’s ‘Late Late’ to promote Carberry’s book ‘One Hell Of A Ride’ but presenter Ryan Tubridy omitted to tease a tip from them – something of an oversight given their 18/1 treble at the Co Meath venue today!

Texas Jack, winner of the Goffs Landrover Bumper on his only start in April, was ridden with confidence by Carberry but the gelding did display a tough of greenness when getting into contention in the home straight. However, to Texas Jack’s credit, he stuck to his task well and knuckled down to eventually record a facile win over Dynamic Approach

Afterwards Meade said “we’ve always liked Texas Jack although when he won at Punchestown, we thought our other fellow (fourth placed Johannisberger) was the better horse. However he picked up well there and did so again today.

“He was a bit ‘innocent again’ today but it’s a nice place (Fairyhouse) to bring them - there’s plenty of open space and there is decent ground here too. He’s a nice horse and hopefully will keep going the right way. He’ll go for a two and a half miles novice somewhere now.”

As a point of trivia, Meade added, “I’ve lots of horses in my yard named after outlaws and Texas Jack is another!”
