Review CLONMEL 10TH JUN

Barry Geraghty took the riding honours at a sunny Clonmel when completing a double aboard Mail Man and Bachelors Bar.

Edward O'Grady has his string in top form at present, and Mail Man added to the tally when sent past Catch The Dragon on the run-in to score by three quarters of a length in the Brian Winston Maiden Hurdle. 'He seemed to handle the ground well, and will eventually go chasing', said O'Grady.

Bachelors Bar jumped to the front at the penultimate fence in the Templetuohy Farm Machinery Handicap Chase, and Geraghty could afford to take it easy in the closing stages to record a two and a half lengths success over Castlerueanna.

Willie Callaghan partnered his first winner when getting Society Blue up in virtually the final stride for a surprise victory in the White Sands Catering Handicap Hurdle. Callaghan, 20, from Cobh, has been with trainer Michael Hourigan for over three years, and the Patrickswell handler said: 'I'm delighted for Willie as he is a great worker in the yard'.

John Oxx maintained his impressive strike rate in maidens here this year when Deeply made all to beat Naahil by a comfortable two and a half lengths in the ten furlongs Rock Of Cashel Maiden. 'Johnny said she was feeling the firm ground, so I doubt if she will run on it again', said Oxx's assistant Jimmy O'Neill, who added: 'She is a half-sister to The Glow Worm, and we will step her up in trip next time'.

Talented apprentice Pat Cosgrave moved onto the six winner mark for the season when Saffron Dancer held the staying on Eight Woods by three quarters of a length in the Cahir Handicap.
