Review CORK 19TH NOV

Michael Hourigan can literally do no wrong at present and the Patrickswell trainer teamed up with his son Paul to collect the opening Handicap Hurdle at Cork yesterday with top-weight Just Our Job .

The successful son of Jolly Jake struck the front before two out to score by a head from Cronin's Boy and could well be up to bagging a decent prize over flights according to the elder Hourigan .

The Limerick father/son team then went onto complete a double as Mr Red Banner spreadeagled the opposition when triumphing by five and a half lengths from Change The Script in the three mile Handicap Hurdle .

This past season's Aintree Bumper winner Quadco simply annihilated his twenty rivals when coasting home by twenty-five lengths in the two mile maiden hurdle under Garrett Cotter . In all probability, the Pat Fahy-trained Quadco will now take in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse in two weeks time .

Cotter was completing a two-timer as he had earlier guided the odds-on Be My Royal to a comprehensive success in the three mile novice hurdle . Trainer Willie Mullins was absent at Navan, but it is understood that Be My Royal, which races in the Florida Pearl colours of Mrs Violet O'Leary, will be aimed at some of the top novice hurdles .

The featured City Life Grand National Chase provided it's fair share of drama as Twilight Buck was travelling strongly in the lead when ducking out to the right at the third last, badly hampering No Problem in the process . Section Seven was the main beneficiary and Austin Leahy's charge stayed on resolutely to oblige by a length from Peggy's Lad .

On his very first ride for New Ross handler Michael Cullen, Tom Rudd piloted Kings Valley to a smooth success over Ballygowan Beauty in the Novice Chase . On an afternoon that saw six out of the seven favourites visit the winners enclosure, the in-form Noel Meade and Davy Russell combined to collect the Bumper with the clear form choice Eden Royale .

Meanwhile, Arthur Moore saddled a one-two in the featured Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan as Lyreen Wonder (Barry Cash) beat More Than A Stroll .
