Review CURRAGH 9TH APR

Decado will be aimed at the Irish 2,000 Guineas following an impressive return to action in the Oak Lodge Sires Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh.

Kevin Prendergast's colt ran out a decisive winner of the Listed contest when beating Queen Cleopatra by four lengths.

Declan McDonogh sent the son of Danehill Dancer to the front at the furlong pole and he powered clear on the run to the line.

'I thought he'd win today and he travelled well throughout the race. All being well he'll come back here for the Guineas - he might be good enough,' said the winning trainer.

Prendergast has his string in fine fettle and completed a quick double when Tamazug claimed the PG Duffy & Sons Citroen EBF Fillies Maiden.

Chris Hayes produced the daughter of Machiavellian inside the final furlong to wear down Michikabu and score by a head.

The Friarstown handler also saddled three second-placed horses on the card including Mustameet in the feature Castlemartin/La Louviere Stud Gladness Stakes.

The Group 3 event was claimed in great style by 25/1 shot Common World, who gave Fran Berry his first winner since returning from injuries sustained in a fall at the course last August.

Tom Hogan's entire was prominent throughout and stormed clear in the final furlong to score by six lengths.

'He handled the ground whereas the others didn't,' said Hogan. 'He's a horse who needs to have things go his way. On his day he is very good as we've seen today. I'm delighted for Fran.'

Prendergast had narrowly missed out in the Four Star Keadeen Hotel Handicap, earlier on the card, when Cheddar Island was headed close home by Alone He Stands.

He also had to settle for runner-up spot in the opening two-year-old maiden when Spirit Of Pearl played second fiddle to Rose Of Battle.

Mick Halford's filly jumped out in front and battled well in the closing stages to see off Prendergast's charge and score by a length-and-a-half.

Winning rider Johnny Murtagh went on to record a treble courtesy of Arch Rebel and Catch Me.

The Noel Meade-trained Arch Rebel stormed clear in the final two furlongs to land the Listed Alleged Stakes by four-and-a-half lengths while German import Catch Me proved an easy winner of the concluding Peter Byrne Kildare Race on his first start for Edward O'Grady.

Ruby Walsh notched a short-priced double at Tramore courtesy of Macs Flamingo and General Alarm.

1/1f Macs Flamingo ran out a comfortable winner of the Tramore Directors Chase while Natural Storm (4/5f) pulled clear in the closing stages of the Crobally Beginners Chase.

Grand National winning jockey, Niall Madden, was also on the mark when scoring on front-runner Rosamio in the Tramore Supporters Club Handicap Hurdle.
