Review DUNDALK 11th Apr

Johnny Murtagh rides Dundalk as well as anyone and again showed his worth when driving Mojito Royale to victory in the Buy at Goffs Breeze-Up May 7th Handicap, the feature on a seven-race card.

The 3-1 favourite was only mid-division turning for home in the six-furlong contest and at one stage it looked as though Johnstown Lad had sneaked first run on Eoin Doyle's top-weight.

But Murtagh got his mount into overdrive and was on top at the end for a half-length call.

Doyle said he will see what the handicapper does but that the winner will be seen to much better effect when encountering fast ground on turf.

Murtagh carried on the good work with a straightforward victory on Ger Lyons' Fiery Lad (4-1) in the Real Quality at Goffs Breeze-Up Handicap.

John Oxx got off the mark for the new campaign at Tipperary on Wednesday and wasted little time in making it win number two with Sharp Drop (4-1) in the Unbeatable Quality and Value at Goffs Maiden.

The three-year-old newcomer looked to have it to do against the

Lyons-trained 4-5 favourite Slam Dunk but tracked that rival before getting a timely split.

Mick Kinane's mount (4-1) picked up well and got the better of a blanket finish by a head from Murtagh on the market leader.

Oxx and Kinane soon made it three for the season when Zafayra (9-2) enjoyed a pleasing introduction in the Win With A Goffs Breezer Fillies Maiden.

The daughter of Nayef raced up with the pace and ran on well to score by a length and three-quarters from Shy Smile.

Course specialist Cochlear (7-2 favourite) defied the handicapper to make it three wins in a row.

The Tommy Stack-trained four-year-old started his run off a mark of 60 and a rise of 21lb in total was not enough to stop him in the Your Dream Is Goffs Dream Handicap as he prevailed by a neck from Summit Surge.
