Review DUNDALK 22ND JUL

Johnny Murtagh's visit to Dundalk proved well worthwhile as the popular jockey came away with a double through hot-pot Mayara and Bunker Dolly.

Mayara appeared to face a straightforward task in the Millgrove Maiden, and supporters of the heavily-backed 2/7 chance had few worries as she eased to a six-length success.

Murtagh then teamed up with trainer Jeremy Harley to record an equally facile victory aboard Bunker Dolly in the Tote-The Easy Way to Bet Handicap.

The stewards were busy after this event, with promising apprentice Tadgh O'Shea found guilty of using his whip with excessive force and frequency aboard the unplaced Kilpatrick River. The five-pound claimer had already been ruled out of the Galway Festival after picking up a seven-day suspension for careless riding at Leopardstown on Saturday, and his spell on the sidelines will now run for a further two days.

Trainer Noel Meade was also on the mark twice during the afternoon, with Bless 'Im taking the Peter Lynch Memorial Handicap Hurdle and favourite My Venus romping home in the concluding Louth Flat Race.

The latter is likely to be part of the trainer's Galway team, while Glastonbury has an even more immediate assignment after his 4 1/2 length triumph in the Blackrock Handicap. Peter McCreery's consistent five year-old will go for a five-furlong handicap at Down Royal on Saturday.
